Recommendations for dyeing and finishing polyester microfiber fabrics are presented. these fabrics are best dyed in jet or overflow dyeing machines. Continuous dyeing, package dyeing, and beam dyeing are not recommended. Because microfibers expose more surface area than conventional fibers, more dyestuff is generally required to obtain acceptable results. The increased surface area also reduces lightfastness. Preparation and pretreatment are critical to the successful wet finishing of microfiber fabrics. Careful attention must be paid to scouring, washing, sizing, and presetting methods. The type of finish applied depends upon the fabrics end-use.
