Recommendations for pretreatment, drying/presetting, sueding, and dyeing of polyester microfiber fabrics are given. Proper pretreatment is the most critical step. Winding, knitting, and sizing additives may be more difficult to remove because of the fibers' greater surface area. Depending on the available machinery, exhaust or continuous pretreatment procedures may be used. Tensionless, open-width preparation is recommended. Sueding with a water-soluble napping assistant that contains anti-static properties is necessary. Sueding is followed by heat-setting and jet washing to remove fiber dust. Polyester microfiber fabrics are beat when dyed in jet or overflow units. Beam dyeing, package dyeing, and continuous dyeing processes are not recommended.
