Hoechst's Trevira Finesse polyester microfiber is used to manufacture such functional apparel as rainwear; Trevira Micronese is used in fashion apparel. Specifications for washing, drying, heat-setting, dyeing, and other finishing processes for these microfibers are detailed. These processes critically affect the type of dye that is selected; up to 40 percent more dye can be required with microfibers than with conventional polyester. Dyeing processes for blends of Micronese with viscose or cotton involve the use of Remazol dyes for the cellulosic component. 3 refs.
