The second installment of a two part series of articles concerning the establishment of mathematical models for two types of three dimensional woven fabric structures addresses the mathematical description of multilayer fabric weaves and develops models for the automatic generation and representation of weaves in the form of a two dimensional binary matrix. In addition to specifying the weaves of each layer, researchers considered the combination of yarns from each layer and stitching possibilities among the layers. The models incorporate a self stitching method and ensure that a stitch does not interfere with fabric structure. The models are incorporated into a Microsoft Windows based computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing program for complex woven structures that features cross sectional visualization and draft and lifting plan calculations. 4 refs.
