Lycra spandex has been used for years in foundations, swimwear, activewear, and hosiery. Recently, Lycra spandex fabrics have been used in high-end men's tailored apparel from DKNY. BASCO, Michael Kors, Andrew Fezza, and others. Lycra is showing up in converters' lines at all price points. Anglo Fabrics offers woven stretch fabrics of Lycra. H.J. Salm Associates and D.D. Hamilton are two other converters offering woven Lycra fabrics. D.D. Hamilton--whose Lycra blends include yarn dyes, checks, plaids, crepes, sharkskins, jacquards, and corduroy--has sold several of its Lycra stretch fabrics to DKNY. Some fabrics using Lycra do not have much stretch, a situation that could hurt Lycra's image. Du Pont has established a certification program to remedy this potential problem.
