The Third International Conference on Novelties in Weaving Research and Technology, held in Maribor in September 1999, was the last in a series of three conferences in the framework of the international network for studying warp related weaving problems. The Institute of Textile and Garment Manufacture Processes at the University of Maribor organized the conference, which focused on the mechanics of weaving and fabric forming, mathematical modeling for weaving applications, computer aided technologies, warp preparation and dynamic behavior of yarns, modeling of interyarn spaces in woven fabrics, effects of dynamic friction between fabrics, optimal relay nozzle setting on air jet looms, effects of friction coefficient on weaving resistance, behavior of the backrest roller, returning of wefts in the fabric forming zone, modernizing the STB loom, advantages of elliptical shed, and quality criteria for loom settings. 1 refs.
