The market share of knit fabrics for industrial applications, currently at 12 percent, is increasing faster than that of nonwoven fabrics. Applications include full fashioned knitwear, spacer materials, knitwear with yarn inserts, and reinforcements for fleece and fibrous sheets. Examples include protective clothing for forest workers, composite rims for bicycles, automotive interiors, nets and webbing for tennis and soccer, and reinforced fabrics with multiaxial knitting for boat construction.
