Technological improvements in the weft insertion on shuttleless looms and warp knitting machines have led to less machine downtime and higher speeds in the production of narrow fabrics. Applications include medical textiles, home furnishings, and labels. Several examples of the developments in weft insertion include : weft insertion directly from cones ; a one-stage warping process ; cam driven and pattern chain driven shedding motions ; electronically controlled dobbies and jacquards ; and CAD systems. Specifications of Muller's SEC electronic jacquard, the Selvedge SystemⅢ, the Mugrip loom for labels, and the Mudata3 data acquisition system for linking individual machines are presented.
