WARPSIM software simulated the weaving process from warp tension measurements and determined optimal weaving parameters. Warp tension derives from frictional loads on machine components and yarn ends, longitudinal and crosswise friction on adjacent yarn ends, shed opening, and weft beatup. Mobile triangulation lasers measured the position of the back roll, warp stop motion, heddle motion, and fabric support. A computer tabulated the resultant data and calculated the warp end tension cycle. A backwards anaysis of the warp end tension curve generated the optimal parameters. 2 refs.
