This article documents the important developments on show at ITMA 1999. The firms are featured in alphabetical order, with each of their new machines discussed. Detailed mechanical information is given for many. ITMA '99 was associated with one or two problems for the reporter. Despite two-day metro strikes, great efforts were made to visit and take account of all firms involved in manufacturing machinery for narrow fabric production. The reports appear in alphabetical order. Research quality depends of course on the readiness of the firms to make available the technical details required for reliable reporting, and linguistic problems had also to be solved. The wealth of material means that not every detail can be reported. The important developments have been recorded.
