A composite structure particularly for use in the automotive field is disclosed in which a core of load bearing, impact resistant material is provided with a first layer of a laminate composite comprising aligned continuous glass fibres in a matrix of a thermoplastic material on a first side of the core and a second layer of a laminate composite comprising aligned continuous glass fibres in a matrix of a thermoplastic material on a second side of the core. The core may be a foam or a honeycomb. Such a structure has the advantage that it provides, or may readily be provided with, a suitable aesthetic finish to a part formed from the composite structure, the composite structure having an inherent rigidity such that no additional supporting members are required.
