A study manufactured fabrics with false twist textured yarns and air jet textured yarns as filling yarns and compared their tensile strength, abrasion resistance, stiffness, and other properties, Warp yarns included 70 denier polyester filament yarns. Filling yarns included 60 denier (800 twists per meter and 36 filaments); 90 denier (1,356 twists per meter and 34 filaments); 150 denier air jet textured yarns; and 60, 90 and 150 denier false twist textured yarns. Fabrics manufactured with air jet textured yarns had better flexural rigidity, abrasion resistance, thickness, breaking load, breaking elongation, drape coefficient, and dyeability than fabrics manufactured with false twist textured filling yarns. Tear strength and bursting strength were higher for fabrics manufactured with false twist textured filling yarns. 8 refs.
