An experiment examined the deformity of woven fabric structures, particularly the effects of weaving parameters on fabric behavior under various mechanical loads. A standard dynamometric method determined the breading load and breaking elongation of three woven 70/30 wool/polyester fabrics with twill 2/2, soleil, and fancy twill constructions; binding factors of 0.25, 0.28, and 0.33; warp and filling yarn fineness of 77 tex; 140 ends per decimeter; 125 picks per decimeter; 8 percent crimp; and weight of 225 grams per square meter. An increase in binding factor decreased the breading load and breaking extension in the warpwise and fillingwise directions, indicating an increase in the internal stress of the fabric. The curve of relaxation after tension revealed the zones of elasticity, viscoelasticity, and plastic deformation. 3 refs.
