A polar coordinate fitting model predicts the drape coefficient and node location, number, and shape in the fabric profile. Experimental drape profiles of 35 woven fabrics agreed well with constants determined by polar coordinate fitting. Calculated drape coefficients agreed with experimental drape coefficients, indicating that bending and shear hysteresis using regression analysis directly predicts drape profile. The mean value taken in the warp, filling, and +/- 45 degree directions predicted fabric drape profiles better than did the mean value taken in the warp and filling directions only. 30 refs.
