Executives from Rieter of Winterthur, Switzerland, recently concluded that the company's large growth in profits and sales during 1992 resulted from the diversification of its exports. This growth occurred despite the poor economies of Europe and the United States. The company conducts business in all major markets worldwide. About half of its executives have been recruited from outside Switzerland. Rieter consists of divisions that specialize in spinning systems, manmade fiber systems, and noise and thermal insulation for the automotive industry. The spinning systems division and the manmade fiber systems division are highly diversified and supply integrated installations that process a variety of raw materials.
